Configuring Teco Torque Parameters

The MachMotion plasma control uses a torque input from the TECO drive to home the Z axis and to re-reference the torch. If the torch hits the cutting material with too much force during a re-reference or if the torch re-references before actually touching the cutting material, you may have to adjust some of the TECO drive parameters.

Default Settings

Parameter

Default setting

Cn010

30 or 300

Cn011

-30 or -300

Tn108

22

Hn517

8

Cn010

Cn010 is the CCW torque command limit. It ranges from 0-300. At 300 the torque limit will be 300% of the motors maximum torque. For a plasma control, it is probably best to set this parameter close to 30.

Cn011

Cn011 is the CW torque command limit. It is exactly the same as Cn010 other than it is for CW motion. Cn011 should be set to the same value as Cn010.

To change Cn010 or Cn011, follow the procedure below.

Note: By briefly pressing the Enter button you can edit the other digits (ten’s place, hundred’s place, etc).

1.Press the Mode button until you get to Cn001. Using the up and down arrow keys, set the drive to Cn010 or Cn011. Hold down the Enter button and the drive will display the current value.

2.Set the display to the correct value. Hold down the Enter button and the display will return to the parameter you just changed.

3.   Remove power from the drive until the screen completely goes blank. Then power it back up. Programming is complete.

Tn108

Current value should be at 22. Lower the setting to 18. Going lower than that may result in torch "referencing" in the air. If you find it not coming all the way down to the plate to reference even at 18, raise to 20.

Tn108 is the torque output monitor level. It ranges from 0-100%. When the motor reaches this torque percentage, it will activate an output signal that will tell the control that the motor is referenced or homed.  If the re-reference output is activated when it starts accelerating or at other undesired times, then you may have to increase this value.

To change Tn108, follow the procedure below.

Note: By briefly pressing the Enter button you can edit the other digits (ten’s place, hundred’s place, etc).

1.Press the Mode button until you get to Tn101. Using the up and down arrow keys, set the drive to Tn108. Hold down the Enter button and the drive will display the current value.

2.Set the display to the correct value. Hold down the Enter button and the display will return to the parameter you just changed.

3.Remove power from the drive until the screen completely goes blank. Then power it back up. Programming is complete.

Hn517

Hn517 places the drive output in INT (in torque) mode by setting to value of 8 (H008).

To change Hn517, follow the procedure below.

Note: By briefly pressing the Enter button you can edit the other digits (ten’s place, hundred’s place, etc).

  1. Press the Mode button until you get to Hn101. Using the up and down arrow keys, set the drive to Hn517. Hold down the Enter button and the drive will display the current value.
  2. Set the display to the correct value. Hold down the Enter button and the display will return to the parameter you just changed.
  3. Remove power from the drive until the screen completely goes blank. Then power it back up. Programming is complete.
