Mud Flap Punch Machine

Overview

The machine is a two axis mill-type machine that punches out rubber truck mud flaps from a feeder roll of material. The material is fed along by the X axis. The Y axis controls position of the cut off punch. There are additional fixed place punches for different sized and shaped holes. All punches are controlled by outputs.

The purpose of the custom programming is to allow the operators to select a specific flap (brand and model) and input a quantity, then have the machine make that flap all the flaps. Previously, the machine was operated manually through jogging. When the operator selects a flap, the control will show an enlarged picture of the flap for their approval, then load the associated subroutine. After the first flap is cut, the machine will wait on a M00 for operator approval to continue.

The "Load Flap" button will be green if there is a difference between what the operator had selected and what the control has loaded to run.

Data

The relationship between brand, model, picture, and subroutine is maintained in a CSV file, C:/Mach4/GCodeFiles/10th Avenue/flaps.csv

Each line is of the the format "brand,model,image,subroutine_number". The image files are expected to be in the same folder as the CSV file and must be .png or .jpeg format. The subroutines must be in the subroutines folder. The CSV file must include the header line. Note that the CSV file only contains the subroutine number, not the leading O.

The subroutine O9999 is not available for use. It is reserved for the main g-code file.

G-Code File

10th Avenue has a custom g-code file that must be loaded for this functionality to work. It handles the part counting and the zeroing. Before running each subroutine, the control will zero in place. The subroutine O9999, contained within the file, manages the zeroing and calling the subroutine.
