End of Life Support

Definition

When replacement parts are no longer available for a product, we officially call it the end of life (EOL). This happens because companies are bought out and stop selling a product, companies shut down, circuit board chips are no longer available, or just industry standard parts become difficult to purchase. No system control is meant to last forever, and eventually every product runs out of service parts. To read more about industry standard definitions, see Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/End-of-life_product

Scope of Support

When an end of life product has failed, the goal is to offer an upgrade path to you so that you can continue to run your machine on a serviceable control system.

When supporting a product that has reached the end of life, our goal is to determine if the end of life product has failed or if something on the machine has failed.

For end-of-life products, we limit support to the following:

  • Remote login support for XML restore or Ultimate screen is not licensed
    • No custom programming
    • No software upgrades
    • No new machine setup(s)
    • No new feature setup - send documentation
  • No repairs for EOL products since we don't have replacement parts
  • No shipping end-of-life products back to MachMotion for testing or repair, since we don't have replacement parts

If you are setting up EOL products for the first time, we can give a discount on a new supported control. This will provide you with a new control.

For example, if you have a Mill running an IO6 motion controller and your limit switch doesn't work, we'll help you determine if the IO6 motion controller is bad or if the limit switch has failed. If the IO6 motion controller is bad, we will offer you an upgrade path to 2000 series Apollo III, or even RapidPath if you want to replace your drives.

If you have a Mach3 Plasma, service parts are no longer available for Mach3 Plasma, and you will need to upgrade your control system. We recommend Victory CNC Plasma or FlashCut CNC as our preferred upgrade partner.

MachMotion will

  • Create a ticket
  • Ask you for detailed pictures
  • Work with you to determine where the problem is in your system, and explain the options you have for upgrading your control to a current system

Product Lines

The following products have reached the end of life and are no longer supported:

  • IO6
  • PMDX
  • Interpreter 1000
  • Apollo I
  • Mach3 (Besides Mach3 Waterjet)
  • Press Brakes
  • EDM Machines

However, MachMotion no longer offers an upgrade path for certain types of controls. However, we have partners who provide those controls, and the current list is here: https://support.machmotion.com/books/support-and-service-policies/page/end-of-life-product-lines
