SO19518: Paper Punch Machine

Overview

The machine is a three axis gantry router-type machine. They have the standard X-Y motion and the punch is a rotary W axis. The punch action is done by outputs and hydraulics, not a servo Z axis. Basic operation is to go to a series of positions (X/Y/W) and punch operation at each place. Occasionally, the machine will need a "oil cut", which is doing a punch operation onto an oil soaked pad to grease the blade. The oil cuts are part of the program.

Custom Screen

They have a custom tab on their screen which contains a custom version of the canned cycles interface. This interface allows them to jog the machine to place and teach at each position. Each position can be taught with clamps on or off. There is also an option for adding in an oil cut and manually adding a position by typing in values.

The buttons for clamp one and two do not do anything directly, but indicate if the next teach position will have the clamps on or off. It is unclear if they really change this within a file, but their previous control had this option.
